CELEBRATED EIGHT OF MARCH - INTERNATIONAL WOMEN DAY IN PALILULA MUNICIPALITY

International Women's Day, 8 March is also celebrated in Palilula Municipality. PhD Igor Novakovic, president of the Municipality and Bojan Ilic, head of Municipal administration, organized the reception for women who are employed in Palilula Municipal administration. On this occasion, after the gifts and bouquets, it was also discussed about the current issues of women in our society.

"Our Palilula municipal Administration meets all the requirements of the quality management system in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001:2008 standard. We manage with our business processes using open and honest knowledge of our employees and so called` better looking half" make up the majority of our employees`- said president Novakovic. `We strive to achieve complete customer satisfaction for our services users. Our management promotes and encourages all the employees to take active participation in the activities to improve the conditions and work processes`.

 "Women's Day" was established at the Second International Conference of Women Socialists on March 8 1910 in Copenhagen, on the initiative of Clara Zetkin, German leader of women's labor movement. This day is celebrated also in the memory of the demonstration of American female workers in Chicago in 1909 and New York march with more than 15,000 women a year earlier, fighting for shorter working hours, better pay and voting rights. Women's Day was first celebrated in 1911 in Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Denmark, and in those countries on that day more than one million women and men attended public meetings and gatherings where was demanded women to vote in elections, then enabling them of occupying public positions, having the right to work and their professional education. In Serbia this day started to be celebrated in 1914.
